We don’t know whether life on Earth arose spontaneously or somehow came here. But perhaps something similar existed before. Just as there will probably be something afterwards. We can speculate and fantasize about what it is and how it works. The only important thing is that it makes sense (scientifically)—only then is it science fiction.
