Full Description
The Gudu planet is the last and only habitable place for humanity in the universe. It is a crystal society with scarce resources, depleted energy, and the end of the world approaching. Planned cannibalism seems to be the only way out. Jane's unexpected romance with a Gudu inhabitant establishes a connection between Earthlings and the inhabitants of the doomed Gudu planet. Earthlings learn that Earth will soon be destroyed and begin searching for the cause of the destruction to prevent it. However, an international joint conference tasked with this mission selfishly demands, deceives, and exploits information from Gudulings. Gudulings, who view serving Earthlings as their purpose for existence, exhaust all their resources to cooperate, but only seven remain. They apply to return to their ancient homeland, Earth, through the Dream Bridge, but are ruthlessly rejected by the joint conference. Out of grief and anger, the doomed Gudulings secretly returned to Earth, borrowing the consciousness of people with the same names, each with their own absurd stories. When Earthlings discovered this, they launched a brutal purge against the “future humans,” which led to mutual suspicion and infighting among Earthlings. The International Joint Conference, which once had an angelic mission, gradually transformed into a force with devilish destructive power. Humans could only flee Earth. All signs pointed to humanity's future being that Gudu planet, with destiny seemingly already sealed. The protagonist, Yonliang, sacrifices himself in the apocalyptic world of the Gudu planet, returning to the origins of the lonely planet dwellers before coming back to Earth. His life is filled with misfortune, and in his struggle against fate, he is constantly caught in a dilemma, unable to save humanity, his loved ones, or himself. In modern Earth, he has become resigned to his fate. But only he can save Earth. At that moment of Earth's impending destruction, he chooses to destroy the entire world to break free from the cycle of reincarnation, yet he remains trapped in the greatest cycle of all—the cosmic cycle. This is known as the “time crystal.” The concept of the time crystal was proposed by Nobel laureate in Physics, Robert Wilczek. The time crystal serves as a metaphor for confinement and reincarnation, struggle and destiny, forming the deeper backdrop of the story. Time and love are the two intertwined main threads of the narrative. Hardcore science fiction is based on the concept of information, which is consistent with the cutting edge of modern science (“It from Bit”, information precedes matter - Wheeler) and is novel in its basic theory. The story takes place on six faces in space and time (Mogan Mountain, C-Body 8, Wheatfield Town, Dreamland, Cosmic Prison, and Dark Heart), corresponding to the six faces of a cube, which are relatively independent but connected and interactive, and finally tells the story of the origin.
