When everything in Tristan's life on Earth falls apart all at once, he seeks to make a new life for himself as far from Earth as possible. Plying his trade as a propulsion engineer on a huge space station orbiting a planet at the very edge of colonized space, trouble finds him once more. Pressed into service breaking space ships on the lower decks of the station, Tristan is pushed beyond his physical and mental limits. Facing the hard reality that if he doesn't come up with a solution on his own, he will likely wind up in a burn box and de-orbited at the hands of his brutal human traffickers. Near death, Tristan makes a leap of desperation to save himself and his fellow slaves, but will it lead him to safety or doom?
