Full Description
The NEEDLE is the story of a young single mother of two, Caswell Stewart, who is an astronomy professor at a midwestern American university. Along with her assistant, Jax, she discovers a deep-space anomaly far beyond the solar system. Further study shows it is heading into our solar neighbourhood quickly. Initially, there is no genuine concern. However, with a “game of celestial billiards,” things can change. Using today’s real and available science and resources, Stewart and a small band of scientists lead humanity’s race to save the world.
Separation, divorce, office romance, political intrigue, a dying American Vice-President, introverted scientists, arrogant media, and partisan politicians, all the elements of a realistic society are present. Spanning the globe from numerous locations, including Central Michigan, the Chilean Andes, and Hawaii, as well as the Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa. The race is on.
As foretold in the creation myths of the San peoples of South Africa, the world's end will come from space, and the ancient cave paintings tell a tale of apocalyptic proportions.
The book “The Needle” may not be a suitable book for those who enjoy penguins, and it is not recommended for residents of Dexter, Michigan.
