In the year 2005, scientists Larry Meade and Marcus Nevanti find Fides, a planet in the Alpha Centauri system that could have the conditions to support human life. The discovery sets off a series of events that span nearly a hundred years, bringing the principles of space colonization into conflict with those of Earth's environmentalism. Project Nominal Echo is the biggest technological drive since the Industrial Age, but powerful forces would see it fail by any means possible.
