The defeat of the Ravenous was a lucky fluke notwithstanding the brave marines and the ultimate sacrifice made by them. Such a victory would never happen again when the Demons returned; and return they will. It was just a question of when. How do humans stand up to an alien so advanced that they overpowered the human fleet trivially with comical ease?
There was no time to conduct research to improve technology when people were struggling to reach space again due to the thoroughness of the destruction of human space infrastructure built over centuries by the humans. While the mad scramble to reconstruct launch facilities and rockets to reach space ensued, along with space ship construction yards in space and the Moon started, not all parts of Earth recovered so smoothly. There were too many nations that had stayed repressed under authoritarian regimes before the invasion. The Demon invasion had reset the power balance and the ensuing chaos of Demon hunts had made them bitter. They were never going back to the same authoritarian regimes. These nations only saw waves after waves of chaos but humanity couldn’t afford half of its population roiled in turmoil. Every human needed to work together to stave off the demons.
How would humanity respond as a collective to this existential threat. Will they be able to get their act together?
