I usually write novels, but frequently concepts wander in and come back to me. I want to try them out. I can’t produce a book for each one. For one thing, I’d never have the time to do it properly. However sometimes it’s even simpler, the idea sounds really tempting, but it’s still not enough for a book. So I started writing short stories. The very first was “Free Glider”, which allowed me to combine two passions, science fiction and paragliding. Since then, I’ve continued to play with my inspirations.
I divided the book into two parts. The first brings together all the stories in the space opera style. Foreign planets, spaceships and aliens find their home here. The second focuses on anticipation. We’re still on Earth, but some of the rules of daily life may have changed, so let’s try to imagine what we might discover.
“Escape,” which opens this collection, and “8th republic”, which concludes it, are both optimistic, because I see no reason to favor dystopias. I’m a rather positive writer, and I can even disdain to talk much about the bad guys.
