Orphans From the Sky:
The orphans are almost invulnerable, almost omnipotent, and almost know what they’re doing.
Alien explorers, the HaChii, want cordial ambassadorial relations with Earth. Their Envoy is excited to land and make first contact with the leaders of Earth. But the landing-craft crashes, leaving only her three hatchlings, (genetically-modified by human genes to tolerate Earthly nutrients) surviving the crash.
ReGiiNa, the spokesperson of the infants, and six other similarly-modified hatchlings, including those of the would-be Ambassador, may never get to know their parents. Their living parents are arrested and imprisoned by a fascist dictator who thinks that HaChii people who contacted the ’inferior’ humans are ‘race traitors.’ The hatchlings end up back on their home-world, confined in an orphanage. Can they somehow free themselves and their remaining parents?
They discover emerging superpowers that can replace evil memes in hostile minds with good ones from the Ambassador’s personality. One problem: They don’t understand that imposing ‘overlays’ onto the minds of others cheats them of their free will.
Follow the tale of how ReGiiNa and her GMO colleagues in this Sci-fi novel free those who are confined, become crime-fighters, and discover how to limit the unjust effects of using almost irresistible forces. It’s a big order. Can they do it?
