U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Greg Mordant was tasked with something entirely new: shepherd some US/NATO comm-geeks to a relatively safe place in the Ukraine and assist them in setting up a clandestine communication center that would give them a nearly instantaneous overview from 'eyes-in-the-sky' through a newer, quicker, high-frequency downlink receiver: a 'tacom' to gave it a name, but didn't explain what it was. This was apparently coming from someone at Corporate headquarters who wanted to expand NG's business in military RF communications technology, a major play-space. It was nothing Greg had ever been involved with; his expertise was small hovercraft weapons, not any kind of RF comm-system tradecraft.
