In 2,000 years from now, humanity has formed a galactic civilization based on technology it doesn’t fully understand. The main culture is the Union; a giant transhumanist society spread out over hundreds of worlds and ruled by a mysterious elite class. At its mercy are the enclaves; societies which have chosen their own path. Daniel is an enclave intelligence operative tasked with infiltrating the Union. While on an assignment, he stumbles upon something strange which may threaten the stability of the Union. Is it a rebellion among the elites, or is an external force involved? Daniel is approached by a woman – a Union elite who he suspects is trying to recruit him. Motivated more by curiosity than good sense, Daniel finds himself allied with this woman – who he can’t seem to be able to resist. Together they embark on a journey whose destination seems to be chaos and war. Is their journey causing the chaos or are they trying to prevent it? Daniel doesn’t know, but he is going to find out, no matter the cost.
