Andy, a structural engineer witnesses his friend falling from a scaffold and tries to think of ways to build without scaffolding. He meets a professor of orthopaedic surgery, Jenny, at an engineer's meeting where she tells the meeting that bones are just as much structural elements as steel or concrete beams. He has a crazy idea of growing bones into the shape of buildings and pitches it to her but she says no. Later she realises that it can be done and contacts him. They grow a small square bone but realise they have no money to take the idea further but Mr Phocks, a benefactor, says he'll put money into the project. He does but when it is a success he steals the company from them. They restart and once again he manages to steal that company. The third time he tries to steal their company he does not win, He goes back to his homeland but dies under house arrest. Andy and Jenny are worried about Mr Phocks' AI system, Greta, that seems to be alive so they buy Mr Phocks' tower block to prevent Greta from being switched off.
